Aims and Objectives:
The objectives of the University of Bedfordshire Martial Arts Society will be to further the educational purpose of the University by promoting the benefits of traditional Martial Arts practice, self defence and safety awareness to student within the University of Bedfordshire and associated organisations.
In furtherance of the same, and to ensure the safe and responsible martial arts practice of its membership, the Society will:

* be responsible for sourcing (procuring) martial arts providers on the behalf of its membership;

* vetting martial arts providers with the relevant recognised governing bodies;

* making the necessary license, insurance and qualification checks to ensure competence to instruct;

* placing martial arts providers on an approved list to be available to its membership; and
-
* liaising with martial arts providers to secure arrangements for its membership which represent value for money and take account of the 'student' status of its membership.
The Society will be responsible for representation of its membership on such bodies as the University and Student Union may specify.The Society shall be a democratic body.
Relinquishing Membership: A student member or honorary member may, by sending written notification to the President of the Society, by 31 October, in the academic year, terminate their membership.
Equality
1. All members of the Society have the right not be discriminated against.
2. The Society shall not discriminate against or treat anyone less favourably than another on the grounds of: sex (including gender reassignment); marital or parental status; race; ethnic or national origin; colour; disability; sexual orientation; religion; or age.
3. For martial arts providers the ability to meet the requirements of approval and the capacity, skills and competence to conduct martial arts classes will be the primary consideration.
4. Nothing in this article shall prejudice any provision of this Constitution or the Constitution and Standing Orders of the University of Bedfordshire Student Union.
